First,
we picked out our spot and cleared out all the grass and leaves
Then, daddy to cut up some logs for the border
and I let him carry them closer to our pit site
We lined them up to see how they looked
Next,
I helped daddy dig down in the ground a little to set in the logs
and took a little walk across the top
after that it was break time
But there’s plenty more work to do daddy!
Later, after we dug down a little
and got our stump set in
we packed a little dirt back in around the sides
then repeated
dig, set, pack,
a bunch of times.
Butterfly decided to come check things out.
Hey!!!
She’s not suppose to be in here!
well, ok
but don’t touch anything
she seems to approve :-)
Checking out all my hard work
I approve! :-)
Dirt pits are GREAT!
Hey…wait a minute…what is daddy doing?
pouring water…in my dirt…..
AND mixing it up?!?
I do not look happy about that….
…..
I DO like to pour water though..
MUD!!!
NOW, I will
throw this stick
just to let you know
I am
NOT! HAPPY! :(
about all this mud in my perfectly good dirt pit.
……………
So… well, my boy doesn’t like mud ;-/
Not a total shocker but I had hoped it would look inviting to him…
We figured we would let it dry up and let him play in the dirt all he wants
but now it has been raining since we built it…
Maybe it will grow on him.
He DID enjoy building it!!
Thanks for stopping by!
OK that was one fabulous mud pit my guy would have been covered head to toe. Yet he does not like the feel of play dough KIDs =) glad he had fun building his "dirt" pit.
ReplyDeletethis is a great idea, my son gets upset over things sometimes I think he would love too. My son loves the dirt so much I may just get my husband to build a dirt area for him, thanks for sharing on tue tots- frogs and snails and puppy dog tails
ReplyDeleteaw... I wonder if he'll get used to the idea eventually?? Maybe you need to invite a friend over who likes mud? I know my kids would LOVE to come play... am filing this away for when our summer comes around!
ReplyDeleteMy little boy and baby girl would both LOVE that mud/dirt/it's my space and not yours pit! How I wish I had the space to do something that huge! Maybe I'll clear out a garden bed this fall!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome! We've been looking for another addition to our backyard. I may have to give this a try. Plus, I love the POV on this post.
ReplyDeleteI love it! What a cool mud pit! LOVE LOVE LOVE the mud! Hoping it grows on little man. Thanks so much for linking to Tuesday Tots. Pinned :)
ReplyDeleteAw, I hope it grows on him eventually or that it dries back into a dirt pit really soon for him. I really want to install a mud pit in our yard next summer. (It's winter nowin my part of the world!). Thank so much for linking up to the Weekly Kid's Co-op. I've shared this on the Weekly Kid's Co-op FB wall, I've pinned it to our board on Pinterest and I would also like to feature it on my own blog tomorrow (www.oneperfectdayblog.net) as one of my favourites from last week's link up.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, this is such a sweet post. Great job on the mud/dirt pit! He may come around to it eventually, and you can even turn it into a sand box too if it doesn't grow on him. I would love if you link up to our Outdoor Play Party tomorow. My post is on mud too. =)
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love your dirt/mud pit! I would love to be able to convince my husband to build one in our garden! Thanks for sharing at the Outdoor Play Party!
ReplyDeleteLove the story in pictures! We are making a mud pit here this week, and mud is something my Son is not used to (we live in the desert), so his reaction will be interesting. You never know, your boy might be rolling in the mud by next week, how unpredictable they can be! :)
